Nkiruka, an insecure African American woman, discovers the meaning of her name as she struggles to go beyond her family’s dysfunctional legacy of broken relationships and single motherhood, and receive the only thing she truly wants – love.
SYNOPSIS
Nkiruka, a 21-year-old insecure African American woman living in Atlanta prepares for a date on Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend Darien. She is excited about celebrating Valentine’s Day for the first time, but her lack of confidence in her looks has her change her outfit over 10 times, fearing Darien will not accept her for her real self. Darien, running late, informs her that his tire has gone flat but will catch a taxi to meet her. Nkiruka, in joyful anticipation, heads to the restaurant where he has made reservations. There she waits for him to arrive but he never shows up. Nkiruka goes to his house and sees him getting out of a car with another woman. She quickly jumps to conclusions and ends their relationship. Three months later, a discovery about her mother’s past has Nkiruka question her treatment towards Darien. When Nkiruka discovers the meaning of her given name, she realizes that her fate is to break the pattern of broken relationships in her family and open up to receive the love she always wanted.

NKIRUKA FABLE
Nkiruka Fable is a 21-year-old African - American woman, a professional dancer and a senior at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia where she was born and raised. A perfect combination of classic and ‘hood’, she has natural beauty, regal and powerful like an African Queen. She is a lover of love, and loves her boyfriend Darien. She keeps her feelings to herself, but her deep set eyes are innocent yet weathered from the ups and downs of life.

NKIRUKA’S BOYFRIEND
Darien Jones is a 22-year-old African American man who is a senior at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he was born and raised. A single father raised him in an upper middle class family after his mother passed away from breast cancer. A southern gentleman, and an outstanding example of black man excellence, he hides his sensitivity behind a ‘tough guy’ exterior… except when he is around Nkiruka, his girlfriend and love of his life.

NKIRUKA’S MOTHER
Shirley Fable is a 45-year-old who is a wonderful, beautiful, joyous African American woman, who, alternately, is a powerhouse lady who takes no prisoners. She is a career nurse, single mother and leader of her family of matriarchs. She is a loving but strict mother who loves her daughter deeply.

Alesha Merchant is a gorgeous flamboyant curvy sexy 21-year-old Nigerian American woman who loves her body and loves herself. She is not afraid to say the First thing that comes to mind no matter if it’s what others want to hear. Gabi Womack is a 21-year-old Caucasian woman who grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, in an all black neighborhood, has more hood tendencies then the average white girl. She likes to party, is a good person and went to high school with her best friend Tiffany and friend Darien.
Tiffany Love is a crazy ass 21-year-old African American girl. She likes to party way too much. She is loud, funny and hilarious. Best friends with Gabi.

NABILA LESTER
Nabila Lester is an American Film, Television, Stage and Commercial Producer/Director/Writer with over 10 years experience in the Hollywood Film industry and abroad. Born in Harlem, New York she spent her high school and college years in California. In 2004, she acquired her BA in Media Studies from UC Berkeley, on a full scholarship and, in 2011, earned her Masters in Film Production from The University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts. A world traveler since her teen years and resident in countries throughout Africa, Europe, South America, the Caribbean and Asia, Nabila has global cultural experience and a universalist’s creative eye and voice.
In 2013, Nabila was hired to direct her first African film, shot on location in Nigeria, entitled ASE: an epic period piece based on the Oyo Kingdom in thirteenth century Yoruba land. During her brief stay in Nigeria, she learned about the multi-billion dollar Nollywood media industry and felt ‘called’ to do extended work in Nigeria. She saw Nigeria as a place to participate in a growing media industry without the barriers of racism. She moved to Nigeria, April 2015 and within one year, founded NABS International Productions, a multi media production company creating projects for Film, Television and Stage.
Most recently, she has bee Producer/Director of CNN's feature show, African Voices. In her two years of residence in Lagos, Nigeria, she directed projects for top companies such as Coca Cola, Google, Uber, Etisalat and Hennessy. She also directed two stage plays, entitled 'Love Like Slave,' sponsored by The British Council, and 'The Land is Green,' about the history of Nigeria across generations.
